Institute of Global Sustainabiliyy Certification (IGSC), a member of the Venture Business Association, announced on the 5th that it has received official approval from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) as an "Organic JAS" certification body for the first time in Korea.
IGSC is an international product certification body that provides certification services commonly used in 166 ISO member countries so that overseas exporters or exported products can be recognized for their excellence abroad through sustainable certification.

In May, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries approved 'JAS0025', a vegetarian and vegan food-related agricultural standard, as an overseas certification body for the first time in Korea, and recognized its ability as a certification body.
IGSC is officially registered as the first "Japanese Organic Certification" certification body in Korea to provide rapid certification services to Japanese exporters such as organic agricultural products, organic processed foods (including alcohol), organic feed, organic livestock products, and organic algae.
The 'Japanese Organic Certification' is a national standard for Japan's agriculture, forestry and fisheries, and food industries, and was established based on the guidelines for the production, processing, labeling, and marketing of organic food adopted by the CODEX Alimentarius Commission in 2000. Currently, organic livestock products, organic feed, organic processed foods, small distributors, and importers are certified under the jurisdiction of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
An official from IGSC said, "The approval will be of great help to domestic companies considering exporting to Japan," adding, "We will provide various services that meet international standards in the future."
Meanwhile, IGSC has been approved as an international certification agency by the National Accreditation Center (NAC), a U.S. accreditation agency, and is expanding its scope of certification to zero-waist, plastic-free, upcycle certification, food-related certification such as vegan, non-GMO, and gluten-free, cosmetics-related certification such as clean beauty and leaf-free certification, and pet-related product and service certification.
